Hello!

I am a cultural anthropologist working at the intersection of aesthetics and politics. My research and writing contribute to theoretical discussions in visual and medical anthropology, urban studies, and semiotics. I have conducted fieldwork in Brazil, Guatemala, and the United States, and am currently working on a book manuscript about makeup and tanning practices in Rio de Janeiro. I am a lecturer in the Department of Anthropology at Dartmouth College, and received my PhD from the CUNY Graduate Center.
